WE CELEBRATE YOU!
June 23rd is Our Favorite Day of the Year
National Family Owned and Operated Businesses Day, observed annually on June 23rd, was established in 2021 by , a California-based agricultural corporation. This day was created to honor the strength, resilience, and essential role of family-owned businesses in shaping local economies and enriching community life.
However, family businesses contribute more than economic value. You help carry forward traditions, foster innovation, and create a culture rooted in trust and legacy. Whether your family business is a restaurant, a manufacturer, a local shop, or a service provider, you help reflect the heart of the communities you serve.
The Family Enterprise Center at KSU proudly honors and supports family-owned businesses every day, but on June 23, we celebrate you!

TWO GENERATIONS AND THREE DECADES LATER
Innovative Outsourcing: 30 Years of Balancing Family, Talent and Business Needs
In 1995, faced a pivotal moment and decided to leave her cherished human resources role at Worldpan, a Delta Airlines subsidiary, to embrace motherhood and be present for her son, . While cherishing time with him, Cindi's passion for the challenges and rewards of HR work remained strong.
Choosing to step back into the professional world part-time, she quickly discovered a powerful synergy: talented individuals like herself craved flexibility, while businesses could gain invaluable expertise without committing to a full-time salary. This wasn't just convenient; it was a smarter way to work.
Inspired, Cindi began connecting with her network and discovered skilled CPAs, lawyers, and bookkeepers, often found during everyday life (even playground visits!), who shared her desire for meaningful, flexible work. The vision crystallized: bridge the gap between these seasoned professionals seeking balance and the many small businesses needing their high-level skills on a part-time basis.
With this perfect alignment of needs, (IO) was launched. Now, celebrating 30 years in 2025, the core mission endures, albeit evolved.
IO specializes in helping businesses under 150 employees find exceptional talent, offering both part-time and full-time solutions where flexibility remains key to securing top-tier candidates. Their impact is clear, having successfully connected thousands of professionals and client companies.
Today, IO continues to adapt, exemplified by their new Fractional HR services offering businesses access to experienced Fractional HR Directors 3-10 hours per month.
